Nomu, which means ‘growth’ in Arabic, is a multi-sector youth development initiative that empowers Emirati youth through high quality training opportunities driven by United Arab Emirates (UAE) priority sectors, equipping young people with the information, skills and tools needed for success in a digital, knowledge-based economy.

Nomu Goals
Driving progress for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Nomu will upskill and reskill Emirati youth through pathway programs to improve their employability and career readiness.
By expanding the impact of the Nomu initiative based on reliable data, the SDG Council will be fulfilling its mission to support the implementation of action towards the SDGs. The initiative responds to a call for inclusive and equitable quality education (SDG 4) and gender equality (SDG5) that leads to improved standards of living (SDG 8), through partnerships (SDG 17).

How Nomu Works
Nomu leverages high-level strategic partnerships with the public, private, and academic sectors to elevate the livelihoods of Emirati youth.
In order to further the scope of the initiative and expand its impact, the SDG Council is bringing together leading industry actors and impactful stakeholders, to encourage proactive collaborations and transformative partnerships.
Moreover, Nomu allies with the Global Councils on Sustainable Development Goals for this Decade in Action to lead impact-driven projects around the world and support education systems that encourage youth’s participation in sustainable development through its featured pathways.
Scaling Nomu: An Emirati Homegrown Initiative Going Regional
Following the success of the Nomu Initiative in the UAE, AGF drew on the model and approach used in the UAE to create a tailored version for the Arab region
Nomu Regional will support Arab youth accessing upskilling opportunities in relevant fields and sectors by 2026.
The foundation launched its first 3 pathway projects in Tunisia, Lebanon and Jordan, catering to different needs and levels of specializations, including:
- Bridge Programs
- Upskilling programs in different specializations
- Business and entrepreneurial-skills support
